Horchata is very delicious but extremely sweet. ![]() Had a lot of kick and the 5 year old I went to said, "spicy!" But she added some sour cream on it and she was happy. I love a taco with a lot of cilantro - packed with flavor. I really liked the chicken taco because it was packed with flavor and just the right amount of cilantro. Shrimp took an extra 15-20 minutes because it's made fresh to order. The shrimp quesadilla had a wonderful amount of flavor and spice. Just make sure during the winter months you have a sweater. ![]() The only comment I have is it can become very cold. It's also incredibly clean - tables, floors, salsa station and bathroom. The service here is outstanding and employees are friendly. Seemed that they had a lot of take out orders because the delivery men with in and out. I went to dine in and never ordered take out. It was great to try a new taco place in this area. Maya Taqueria: A Little Slice of Mexico - See 25 traveler reviews, 3 candid photos, and great deals for Brooklyn, NY, at Tripadvisor. You have just lost a customer.A delicious taqueria. And don't lie to customers if the food isn't actually on its way. Maybe getting my food an hour late would have been excused by the holiday, but 2 and a half hours late is just absurd. To make matters worse, the people I talked to were barely apologetic for the delay, and kept blaming it on the holiday and high demand that night. I understand that the demand was high that night, but first of all the restaurant should have anticipated it, and second they should not have lied to me on the phone TWICE about when my food would arrive. I live a 3 minute bicycle ride from the restaurant, so clearly it had not left the restaurant anywhere near 9:30. While I was on hold, the food arrived at 10:10. I called again at 10:05 to see where it was, and was put on hole. At 9:30, I called and was told it was JUST leaving the restaurant. At 8:50 I called, and was told my food would be there in 15 minutes. However, on Cinco de Mayo, I ordered dinner around 7:30 - at which time the Seamless delivery estimate said it would take 55-60 minutes. I have ordered from Maya Taqueria several times over the past year, and usually the food hits the spot. Not including this "customer is wrong" approach that I experienced, everything else was great, right on down to the Mexican Coca-Cola. I just wish I hadn't been given so much attitude. A couple minutes later someone else brought me the correct burrito. After repeating multiple times what I wanted, she begrudgingly took away my burrito. So when she came back I told her it was wrong, and then she started arguing with me. So I took a bite and it was indeed wrong. When the lady who took my order came out and handed me a "veggie with rice" burrito, I asked "you mean no rice?" as I ordered my burrito with refried beans and no rice or pico de gallo. It wasn't ALL bad, but it seems as though my experience mirrored that of a few other reviewers. ![]() The location is a real hole in the wall, which only makes it feel even more authentic. As advertised, this is true California style, with prices to match. My husband had a veggie also, and our friends had nachos and tacos, both of which looked amazing. The burrito itself was absolutely delicious. You can also choose to have it "naked" (just the basics) or with fillings like tofu, spinach, mushrooms, etc. I got a veggie burrito, which already comes with the stuff a super burrito has (no need to pay extra for guacamole, like so many places make you do). Totally delicious Mexican food that reminds me of home (California). ![]()
